We are now selling the latest Garmin TOPO Great Britain V3 PRO 1:25K microSD/SD card, released December 2023 with copyright 2021 map data. Older versions include V2 (010-12280-03, May 2021) and V1 (010-12280-02, 2017). This preloaded map provides full topographic coverage across all of Great Britain and the Isle of Man.
The Garmin TOPO Great Britain V3 PRO map comes preloaded on a microSD card, supplied inside a full-size SD card adapter. To install, simply insert either the microSD or full-size SD card (depending on your device) into your Garmin’s SD card slot.
Once inserted, power on your Garmin GPS or handheld device and navigate to the Maps menu. From there, select the checkbox next to the TOPO Great Britain V3 PRO map to activate it. The map is now installed and ready for use.
Please note: The SD/microSD card must remain in your Garmin device at all times for the map to function. The map cannot be copied to your Garmin unit or an external drive. However, the same SD/microSD card can be used in multiple compatible Garmin devices—one device at a time.

Question: Does the Garmin TOPO Great Britain V3 PRO 1:25K microSD/SD card include all of the UK at 1:25k scale and is this a vector map as opposed to the earlier raster OS maps where the detail gets pixelated when you zoom in? thanks
Answer: I can confirm that the Garmin TOPO Great Britain V3 PRO 1:25K title is a vector-based map. However, the TOPO GB 1:25K map does also feature raster mapping, this becomes apparent as you zoom into the map - in particular in built-up areas. Please see the "Further update" at the bottom of the question.
Garmin offer two types of topographical mapping: Garmin BirdsEye TOPO and Garmin TOPO series (which the Garmin TOPO Great Britain V3 PRO 1:25K map is part of). The main difference between these two series is the mapping software. Garmin BirdsEye Topo series uses raster-based mapping while Garmin TOPO series uses vector-based mapping.
Each mapping style has its own advantage. The raster mapping advantage allows for all available detail to show no matter what zoom level is display on the GPS. Vector-based detail will gradually disappear as you zoom further and further out.
Vector mapping using mathematical calculations to form geometrical shapes while raster mapping utilises pixels. For this reason, vector mapping will have a higher quality image compared to raster maps.
Further update: (22nd July 2021) Garmin have confirmed the Garmin TOPO Great Britain V3 PRO 1:25K are vector based, however the map does also feature some raster maps. As you zoom in and out of the map on your compatible Garmin handheld device the TOPO map features layers of maps so kind of a hybrid between the two with scans and vector information. In more congested areas of mapping e.g. built-up areas, the maps are more likely to display using raster mapping.
Question: I have a Garmin Colorado with full UK OS25k mapping on SD card. Can I copy that for us with any Garmin 800 / 1000 series cycle computers please?
Answer: Garmin maps on SD card are copyrighted and cannot be copied. You can however remove the SD/microSD card from your Garmin Colorado and use with other compatible Garmin models such as the Garmin Edge 800 and Edge 1000 series. If you wanted muiltple copies of the map on SD/microSD card you would need to buy additonal copies.
