Garmin eTrex 22x is a new edition to Garmin handheld range. Released in 2019, the eTrex 22x features a 2.2-inch sunlight-readable colour display and is preloaded with TopoActive Europe maps. TopoActive Europe maps provide routable roads and trails for cycling and hiking.

The Garmin eTrex 22x also features 8 GB of internal memory for map downloads plus a microSD card slot for additonal Garmin eTrex 22x compatible maps.

The eTrex 22x handheld GPS device can store up to 2,000 waypoints and 200 routes, making the Garmin eTrex 22x perfect for any outdoor adventure including geocaching.

The Garmin eTrex 22x operates on two AA batteries (not included) and in 'GPS mode' the eTrex 22x has a battery life of up to 25 hours.

New for 2019, the Garmin eTrex 22x rugged handheld GPS device is ideal for use in various outdoor activities including walking, hiking, geocaching, cycling, mountaineering, in-car, boating and fishing.

Featuring a 2.2-inch 65,000 colour sunlight readable display the Garmin eTrex 22x is a small and light handheld device that will fit in the palm of your hand. Furthermore, the eTrex 22x has been designed for use in all weather conditions and is waterproof to IPX7 standards. It is also built for harsh terrains with a tough design to withstand dust, dirt, humidity, etc.

TopoActive Europe maps are preloaded to the Garmin eTrex 22x internally memory. TopoActive Europe maps provide routable roads, waterways and trails, making the Garmin eTrex 22x perfect for quad bikes, bicycles, boats or hiking.

The Garmin eTrex 22x has an internal memory of 8GB, this can be further expanded using optional Garmin maps on microSD cards. Additional Garmin map series on microSD card that are compatible with the Garmin eTrex 22x include BlueChart g3 maps for use on a boat and fishing, TOPO maps for exploring off-road and country walks and bike trails and City Navigator road maps for use when navigating whilst driving or road cycling.

The Garmin eTrex 22x is touch button operated, unlike other premium Garmin handheld models it doesn't feature touchscreen control. Garmin eTrex 22x uses buttons on the side of the unit to toggle through the menu, go back, adjust the brightness, etc. A Thumb Stick controller on the front of the Garmin eTrex 22x (above the screen) enables you to easily move directionally to scroll or highlight an item on the screen. If you would prefer a Garmin handheld device with a touchscreen display then we would recommend either the Garmin eTrex Touch 35 or for a handheld with a larger screen, the 5-inch touchscreen of the Garmin Montana 700 would make the perfect purchase.

TOPOActive Europe Map Coverage

Garmin eTrex 22x is preloaded with road-routable TopoActive Europe maps that feature streets and trails so you can take the journey off the grid. Garmin TopoActive maps includes routable road, trail and path networks, waterways, natural features as well as buildings, international boundaries and more. You can also find thousands of points of interests, including shops, restaurants, universities, car parks and accommodations.

Additional Garmin maps on preprogrammed microSD card can be loaded to the Garmin eTrex 22x via the units microSD card slot contained internally under the eTrex 22x battery compartment (see picture below).
