Product Codes: BVE81CH64, BVE81CH256
The BlackVue ELITE 8 1CH is the most accessible model in the BlackVue ELITE range, bringing the core platform features of the ELITE series to buyers who want capable front-only dash cam coverage without the cost of a 4K or dual-channel unit.
The camera records at 2K Quad HD (2560x1440) using a Sony STARVIS 2 sensor with an f/1.7 aperture and HDR processing. The wide 146-degree diagonal field of view captures the full road ahead, and HDR keeps licence plates readable in both bright conditions and low light. HEVC H.265 compression delivers the best available quality at any given bitrate.
Smart Parking Mode offers three operating options including Power Saving mode which draws under 1mA, ensuring minimal drain on your vehicle battery during extended monitoring. BlackVue Cloud connectivity is built in via the free BlackVue App over Wi-Fi or, for always-on remote access, via the optional external CM100GLTE 4G module. This is a front-only camera - if you want matching front and rear 2K Quad HD coverage see the BlackVue ELITE 8 2CH. If you want a 4K front camera at this single-channel format, the BlackVue ELITE 10 1CH is the step up.

The ELITE 8 1CH uses a 5MP Sony STARVIS 2 CMOS sensor to record at 2K Quad HD (2560x1440) at 30fps. The f/1.7 lens provides a 146-degree diagonal field of view (125-degree horizontal, 68-degree vertical), giving a wide but focused capture of the road ahead without excessive distortion at the edges.
HDR (High Dynamic Range) processing balances exposure across the frame so that brighter areas such as sky and oncoming headlights do not wash out the detail in darker areas. In practice this means licence plates and road markings remain readable in a wide range of conditions. 2K QHD delivers four times the pixel count of Full HD 1080p, which translates to sharper footage and more legible detail when reviewing incidents. HEVC H.265 compression is used by default for best quality at any given bitrate, with H.264 available as an alternative if required by your playback device.
The ELITE 8 1CH supports three Parking Mode options. Power Saving mode draws under 1mA from the vehicle battery and wakes in under one second when an impact is detected, making it the most efficient option for extended parking. Motion Detection mode keeps the camera watching and begins recording when movement enters the frame. Time Lapse mode records at a reduced frame rate throughout the parking period to give a continuous record without filling the card rapidly.
A 10-second pre-event buffer runs continuously in the background so that the moments leading up to any detected impact are captured even if the trigger happened before active recording began. Up to 50 Event files can be protected from loop overwrite at any one time. A built-in timer cut-off (adjustable from 1 to 48 hours) prevents the camera running indefinitely, and a low voltage cut-off (adjustable between 11.8V and 12.5V for passenger vehicles) protects the vehicle battery. A high temperature cut-off operates at approximately 70 degrees C.
Please note: Parking Mode requires either a hardwire connection to a constant 12V supply (hardwire cable sold separately) or the optional BlackVue B-130A battery pack or B-112 battery pack as a self-contained solution. The supplied cigarette lighter cable does not support Parking Mode in most vehicles as the socket loses power when the ignition is switched off.
The ELITE 8 1CH is compatible with BlackVue Cloud via the free BlackVue App (iOS and Android). Cloud features include Remote Live View, Remote Video Playback, GPS Tracking, Emergency Notifications, Video Backup to the cloud, and two-way voice communication via the camera's built-in speaker and microphone.
The camera includes built-in dual-band Wi-Fi (802.11ac, 2.4GHz and 5GHz) for direct smartphone connection wherever the vehicle is parked. For always-on remote access - so that Cloud features work when no phone is in range - the optional CM100GLTE external module provides 4G LTE connectivity using a standard data SIM of your choice (module and SIM sold separately, see BlackVue accessories).
Dual-band GPS and GLONASS are built in, providing accurate speed and location data overlaid on all recordings. This information is displayed on a map when footage is reviewed in the BlackVue App or BlackVue Viewer, making it straightforward to place any incident in context.
A 3-axis G-sensor detects impacts, hard braking, sharp cornering and sudden acceleration, automatically tagging the recording as an Event file and protecting it from loop overwrite. Normal, Event and Parking recording modes sort footage for easy filtering. The SD Card Failure Alert provides a spoken voice warning should the microSD card develop a fault during operation. Adaptive Format-Free file management reduces the frequency of card formatting and improves recording stability. A scheduled reboot function can be enabled to restart the camera at a set time.
The camera mounts on the interior of the windscreen using the supplied double-sided tape pad. Cable routing clips are provided to tuck the power cable neatly along the headliner and A-pillar. For everyday driving, the included cigarette lighter cable provides power. For Parking Mode, either a hardwire cable (sold separately) connecting to a constant 12V supply is required, or the B-130A or B-112 battery pack can be used as a self-contained power solution that charges while driving and powers the camera independently when parked.
The free BlackVue App (iOS 15.0 or later, Android 10.0 or later) connects to the camera via Wi-Fi for live view, settings adjustment and BlackVue Cloud features. BlackVue Viewer for Windows (Windows 7 or later) and Mac (Sierra OS X 10.12 or later) is free to download and provides desktop video playback with GPS map overlay and G-sensor graph for detailed incident review.

If your question is not listed, use the online form to submit it. Alternatively call us on 01733 777623 Monday to Friday (9:30am-5:00pm). For a full model comparison see our BlackVue dash cam comparison table.
The ELITE 8 1CH records from the front-facing camera only at 2K Quad HD (2560x1440). The ELITE 8 2CH adds a second 2K Quad HD rear camera, recording both the road ahead and the road behind simultaneously using the same Sony STARVIS 2 sensor on each channel. All other features - Parking Mode, Cloud connectivity, GPS, Wi-Fi - are identical between the two models. Choose the 1CH if front-only recording is sufficient for your needs or if your vehicle already has a rear camera installed. Choose the 2CH for complete front and rear coverage.
Both are single-channel front-only dash cams with Smart Parking Mode, BlackVue Cloud compatibility and the same platform features. The difference is the camera sensor and resolution. The ELITE 8 1CH uses a 5MP Sony STARVIS 2 sensor recording at 2K Quad HD (2560x1440). The ELITE 10 1CH uses the higher-specification Sony IMX678 STARVIS 2 sensor at 8.4MP, recording at 4K UHD (3840x2160) with a 12-bit image capture pipeline. Choose the ELITE 8 1CH for capable 2K QHD front recording at the lowest entry price in the 1CH ELITE range. Choose the ELITE 10 1CH for the maximum available front camera quality.
No. The ELITE 8 1CH does not have built-in 4G LTE. It connects to your smartphone via built-in dual-band Wi-Fi (802.11ac, 2.4GHz and 5GHz) for settings, live view and video transfer. Always-on 4G connectivity for remote BlackVue Cloud features - such as Remote Live View when away from the vehicle - requires the optional CM100GLTE external module, sold separately via BlackVue accessories, used with a standard data SIM of your choice.
The supplied cigarette lighter cable powers the unit while driving but does not support Parking Mode in most vehicles, as the socket loses power when the ignition is switched off. To use Parking Mode you need either a hardwire connection to a constant 12V supply using a hardwire cable (sold separately), or the optional BlackVue B-130A battery pack or B-112 battery pack as a self-contained solution that charges while driving and powers the camera independently when parked.
The ELITE 8 1CH records a single 2K Quad HD stream, so file sizes are modest compared to a dual-channel or 4K unit. The 64GB card provides approximately 6-8 hours of loop recording at the default High quality setting. The 256GB card extends this to approximately 24 hours or more before older footage is overwritten. For drivers who primarily want Parking Mode coverage overnight, either card size will be sufficient in most cases, though 256GB gives greater headroom for longer monitoring periods. Both cards supplied by ActiveGPS are genuine BlackVue-approved microSD cards.
No. The ELITE 8 1CH is a single-channel unit and cannot be expanded to accept a rear camera. If you want front and rear recording, you would need to purchase the BlackVue ELITE 8 2CH, which includes both cameras in the box and records at 2K Quad HD on each channel using the same Sony STARVIS 2 sensor.

Choose the ELITE 8 1CH for front-only 2K recording at the lowest price in the ELITE range. Add £100 and step up to the ELITE 8 2CH for matching front and rear coverage. For 4K front recording, the ELITE 10 1CH is the next step up. For the full range see our BlackVue dash cam comparison table.
The ELITE 8 1CH is the entry point to the BlackVue ELITE range and makes a compelling case at under £400 with a 64GB microSD card included. It brings Sony STARVIS 2 sensor technology, BlackVue Cloud compatibility, Smart Parking Mode and built-in GPS to buyers who want a capable front-only dash cam without stretching to a 4K model. The 2K Quad HD resolution is a meaningful step up from older Full HD 1080p cameras - plates are sharper, detail is clearer, and the HDR processing handles difficult lighting well.
It is well suited to drivers who only need front coverage, vehicles with an existing rear camera already installed, and buyers who want to join the BlackVue ecosystem at the lowest possible cost with the option to access Cloud features via the CM100GLTE module if required.
For drivers who want front and rear coverage at the same 2K QHD quality, the ELITE 8 2CH adds a rear camera for £100 more. For 4K front recording, the ELITE 10 1CH is the natural upgrade.
