BlackVue logo
BlackVue ELITE 10 1CH 4K front dash cam

The BlackVue ELITE 10 1CH is the flagship front-facing model in the BlackVue dash cam range. Where the ELITE series name refers to the latest generation of BlackVue technology, the 1CH designation confirms this is a single-channel unit recording from the front of your vehicle only. If you need simultaneous front and rear recording, see the BlackVue ELITE 10 2CH.

The ELITE 10 1CH records in 4K Ultra HD (3840x2160) at 30fps through a Sony IMX678 STARVIS 2 sensor - the same sensor used in the ELITE 10 2CH front camera. A 12-bit image capture pipeline processes over 68 billion colours before converting to a superior 8-bit output, revealing tonal detail that a standard sensor pipeline cannot match. HDR keeps the full frame correctly exposed whether you are driving into bright sunlight or out of a car park at night, and the f/1.7 aperture lens makes this one of the most capable low-light front cameras currently available in a compact dash cam. HEVC (H.265) compression carries all of this quality efficiently without inflated file sizes.

Smart Parking Mode protects your vehicle when parked, with a continuously running 10-second pre-event buffer ensuring the moments before an impact are always captured. BlackVue Cloud connectivity gives you remote live view, GPS tracking and video backup via the free BlackVue App whenever a Wi-Fi connection is available. For permanent always-on remote access, the optional CM100GLTE external module adds 4G LTE connectivity using a data SIM of your choice - the module and SIM are sold separately.

Choose below whether you would like the ELITE 10 1CH supplied with a 64GB or 256GB BlackVue-approved microSD card when purchased from ActiveGPS.

4K Ultra HD Recording with Sony STARVIS 2

The ELITE 10 1CH is built around the Sony IMX678 STARVIS 2 CMOS sensor, delivering 8.4 megapixels of resolution in 4K UHD (3840x2160) at 30fps. The 8-element f/1.7 aperture lens covers a 146-degree diagonal field of view (125-degree horizontal, 68-degree vertical), providing wide lane coverage while keeping a natural perspective. The f/1.7 aperture is among the widest available on a production dash cam, admitting substantially more light than the f/2.0 lenses found on many competitors.

A 12-bit capture pipeline processes over 68 billion colours before delivering a superior 8-bit output file. This additional depth retrieves detail in shadows and highlights that a standard 8-bit pipeline simply discards. HDR processing balances exposure in real time - licence plates are readable in bright sunshine, when facing oncoming headlights, and in poorly lit car parks. Reduced motion blur keeps fast-moving vehicles sharp in the frame at 30fps. All footage is encoded using HEVC (H.265) for maximum quality at every bitrate setting, with H.264 (AVC) available as an alternative for compatibility with older playback devices.

Smart Parking Mode - 24/7 Protection

The ELITE 10 1CH offers three Parking Mode options. Power Saving Mode draws under 1mA of current and wakes within one second when an impact is detected, making it the most efficient choice for extended overnight use with a battery pack. Motion Detection Mode activates recording whenever movement is picked up by the camera. Time Lapse Mode creates a compressed record of activity around the vehicle over longer periods without filling the card.

A 10-second pre-event buffer runs continuously in the background. When an impact is detected and Event recording is triggered, the footage includes what was happening in the 10 seconds before the sensor fired - so the moment of impact is always captured, not just the aftermath. Up to 50 Event files are protected from the normal loop overwrite, preserving incidents even when the card is full.

Built-in battery protection keeps your vehicle battery safe during extended Parking Mode sessions. A timer cut-off can be set between 1 and 48 hours, and a low voltage cut-off (configurable from 11.8V to 12.5V for passenger vehicles) prevents the unit from draining the battery below engine-start level. A high-temperature cut-off at approximately 70 degrees C protects the unit during hot weather. Please note: Parking Mode requires either a hardwire connection to a constant 12V supply (hardwire cable sold separately) or the optional BlackVue B-130A battery pack or BlackVue B-112 battery pack. The supplied cigarette lighter cable does not support Parking Mode in most vehicles.

BlackVue Cloud - Stay Connected to Your Vehicle

The ELITE 10 1CH is compatible with BlackVue Cloud, giving you remote access to your vehicle through the free BlackVue App on iOS and Android. When an internet connection is available, the app provides Remote Live View so you can see what the camera sees in real time, Remote Video Playback to review footage without removing the card, GPS Tracking to follow your vehicle's location history, Emergency Notifications when the G-sensor detects an impact, and Video Backup to copy important clips to cloud storage or your phone. Two-way voice communication is available via the built-in speaker and microphone.

The ELITE 10 1CH connects directly to your smartphone via built-in dual-band Wi-Fi (802.11ac, 2.4GHz and 5GHz). For permanent always-on 4G connectivity to BlackVue Cloud - so remote features work even when no local Wi-Fi hotspot is available - the optional CM100GLTE external module can be added using a standard data SIM of your choice. The CM100GLTE is available from our BlackVue accessories page and is sold separately.

Built-in GPS and Impact Detection

Dual-band GPS and GLONASS is built in, stamping every video frame with accurate speed and location data. Footage plays back in BlackVue Viewer with a live map overlay and G-sensor graph - useful for insurance claims or for reviewing the context of an incident. The 3-axis G-sensor detects impacts, hard braking, sharp cornering and sudden acceleration, automatically protecting the relevant clip as an Event file and triggering an alert via the BlackVue App if connected.

Three recording modes cover every situation: Normal mode for standard driving, Event mode for impact-triggered clips, and Parking mode for stationary monitoring. An SD Card Failure Alert issues a spoken voice warning through the built-in speaker if the microSD card develops an error, so you always know when recording has been interrupted. Adaptive Format-Free file management, a BlackVue proprietary system, improves recording stability and reduces the need for manual card formatting. A scheduled reboot function can be configured to restart the unit automatically at a set time.

Installation

The camera mounts on the interior of the windscreen using the supplied double-sided tape pad. Cable routing clips are included to tuck the power cable neatly along the headliner and A-pillar. Power for driving use is via the included cigarette lighter cable. For Parking Mode, a hardwire connection to a constant 12V supply is required - hardwire cables are available separately, or the B-130A or B-112 battery packs provide a self-contained power solution that does not require wiring into the vehicle's fuse box.

BlackVue App and BlackVue Viewer

The free BlackVue App (iOS 15.0 or later, Android 10.0 or later) connects to the ELITE 10 1CH via Wi-Fi for live view, video management, settings adjustment and BlackVue Cloud features. BlackVue Viewer for Windows (Windows 7 or later) and Mac (Sierra OS X 10.12 or later) is also free to download and provides a full desktop interface for video playback with GPS map overlay and G-sensor graph display. Both are available free from BlackVue's website.

BlackVue ELITE 10 1CH FAQs

Do you have a question about the BlackVue ELITE 10 1CH that is not answered on this page? Please see our Dash Cam FAQs for questions from other customers. If your question is not listed, use the online form to submit it. Alternatively call us on 01733 777623 Monday to Friday (9:30am-5:00pm). For a full model comparison see our BlackVue dash cam comparison table.

What is the difference between the BlackVue ELITE 10 1CH and ELITE 10 2CH?

The ELITE 10 1CH records from the front-facing camera only in 4K Ultra HD. The ELITE 10 2CH adds a second 4K Ultra HD rear camera, recording both the road ahead and the road behind simultaneously. Both models use the same Sony IMX678 STARVIS 2 front sensor and the same feature set for GPS, Cloud connectivity and Parking Mode. If you need front and rear coverage, choose the ELITE 10 2CH. If front-only recording is sufficient, the 1CH gives you the same flagship front camera quality at a lower price.

Does the BlackVue ELITE 10 1CH have built-in 4G?

No. The ELITE 10 1CH does not have built-in 4G LTE. It connects to your smartphone via built-in dual-band Wi-Fi (802.11ac, 2.4GHz and 5GHz) for local access. Always-on 4G connectivity for remote BlackVue Cloud features requires the optional CM100GLTE external module, sold separately, using a standard data SIM of your choice. The CM100GLTE is available from our BlackVue accessories page.

Does the BlackVue ELITE 10 1CH work without being hardwired for parking mode?

The supplied cigarette lighter cable powers the unit while driving but does not support Parking Mode in most vehicles, as the socket loses power when the ignition is switched off. For Parking Mode you need either a hardwire connection to a constant 12V supply (hardwire cable sold separately) or the optional BlackVue B-130A or BlackVue B-112 battery pack as a self-contained power solution.

What microSD card capacity do I need for the BlackVue ELITE 10 1CH?

The ELITE 10 1CH records a single 4K stream, so file sizes are smaller than a dual-channel unit. The 64GB card provides approximately 4-6 hours of loop recording at the default High quality setting (30 Mbps). The 256GB card extends this to approximately 18-20 hours before older footage is overwritten. If you use Parking Mode regularly or park overnight, the 256GB option is recommended. Both cards supplied by ActiveGPS are genuine BlackVue-approved microSD cards.

Can I add a rear camera to the BlackVue ELITE 10 1CH at a later date?

No. The ELITE 10 1CH is a single-channel unit and cannot be expanded to add a rear camera channel. If you want front and rear recording with BlackVue, you would need to purchase the ELITE 10 2CH, which includes both a front and rear camera in the box. The 2CH records both channels at the same 4K Ultra HD resolution from the same Sony IMX678 STARVIS 2 sensor.

Is the BlackVue ELITE 10 1CH compatible with Apple CarPlay or Android Auto?

No. The ELITE 10 1CH operates independently of your vehicle's infotainment system and does not integrate with Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. It connects to your smartphone via its own BlackVue App over Wi-Fi, or optionally via 4G using the CM100GLTE module. The unit has no screen - all video playback and settings management is handled through the BlackVue App or BlackVue Viewer software on a PC or Mac.

Choose the 1CH if you only need front protection or already have a rear camera fitted. Choose the ELITE 10 2CH for complete front and rear coverage. For the full range see our BlackVue dash cam comparison table.

Is the BlackVue ELITE 10 1CH worth buying?

The ELITE 10 1CH is the right choice for drivers who want the best possible front camera image quality without requiring rear coverage. It is particularly well suited to vehicles with an existing OEM or aftermarket rear camera already fitted - adding a second dash cam channel would be redundant where a reverse camera is already recording behind the vehicle. Drivers who park outdoors regularly and want reliable Parking Mode protection will also find this a capable and discreet single unit, especially when paired with the B-130A battery pack for extended overnight coverage.

Within the ELITE range, the ELITE 10 1CH offers the same flagship front camera as the ELITE 10 2CH at a lower price - the only difference is the absence of the rear camera channel. Step up to the ELITE 10 2CH if dual 4K front and rear recording is required. Step down to the BlackVue ELITE 8 1CH for 2K QHD front recording using the same Sony STARVIS 2 sensor technology at a more accessible price point.

For drivers considering other brands or further models, our BlackVue dash cam comparison table covers the full range with side-by-side specifications. For personal buying guidance, the ActiveGPS team can be reached on 01733 777623 Monday to Friday, 9:30am to 5:00pm.
