When paired with a compatible Garmin cycling, wrist mounted or smartwatch device, the Garmin HRM-Tri enables you to monitor your heart rate whilst you are running, cycling or swimming. Making it the perfect solution for triathletes.

The Heart Rate Monitor (HRM) Tri is designed to be worn around your sternum during activity. When worn the HRM Tri will wirelessly transmit data heart rate data real-time via ANT+ connectivity. When swimming the HRM-Tri stores heart rate data, then forwards it to your compatible Garmin device e.g. Garmn fenix 5.

Garmin Heart Rate Monitor Tri

Enhance your triathlon experience by pairing Garmin HRM-Tri and Garmin HRM-Swim with your compatible Garmin GPS device with this special bundle pack and save money, compared to buying both heart rate monitors separately.

The Garmin HRM-Tri has been specifically designed for triathletes.

The Garmin HRM-Swim has been specifically designed for swimmers.

Both the HRM-Tri and HRM-Swim fit snugley around your chest directly on your skin. To use simply pair the Garmin HRM-Tri and HRM-Swim with your compatible Garmin GPS device using ANT+ connectivity and you are ready to go. Compatible Heart Rate Monitor Tri and Heart Rate Monitor Swim models include the Garmin Edge 820, Garmin fenix 6X Pro and Garmin quatix 5.

When using the Garmin HRM-Tri in water (swimming), the HRM-Tri stores heart rate data when underwater, then forwards it to the Garmin device. The Garmin HRM Tri can withstand pressure equivalent to 50metres of water.

When running the HRM-Tri features a accelerometer module that measures torso movement to calculate 3 running metrics:*

Cadence - the number of steps per minute. It displays the total steps (right and left combined).
Vertical oscillation - the bounce in your running motion. It displays the vertical motion of your torso (measured in centimeters). HRM-Tri is compatible with several other fitness products but will only display heart rate when paired.
Ground contact time - the amount of time in each step that your foot spends on the ground while running (measured in milliseconds).

*Running dynamics features are available only on the Garmin Forerunner 620/920XT and Garmin fenix 2/3. HRM-Tri is compatible with several other fitness products but will only display heart rate when paired.

Connecting and using the HRM Tri/HRM Swim

Pairing your compatible Garmin device with the HRM Tri and HRM Swim is easy and after pairing for the first time, it will then subsequently connect automatically.

You can also connect the Garmin HRM-Tri i to some fitness equipment. Look out for the "ANT+ Link Here" logo on compatible equipment.

Caring for your heart rate monitor

When using the heart rate monitor dual it may build up with sweat and salt stopping it from functioning properly making heart rate readings inaccurate. For this reason the strap can be removed from the heart rate monitor and it is recommended that you rinse the strap in water after every use. Garmin recommend the strap should be washed after every 7 uses.

Optional Garmin Edge Cycle Maps on SD card (selected Garmin Edge models)

If you'd like to add either UK and European or North American cycle maps to your compatible Garmin Edge device you can do just that by buying and installing either Garmin Europe Cycle map or Garmin North America Cycle map on SD/microSD card.

Once installed the SD/microSD card enables you to select cycling, tour cycling or mountain biking options and then select the appropriate route for the type of cycling you do, taking you on paved roads, unpaved roads, or on paths and trails.

IMPORTANT: A number of Garmin Edge models e.g. Garmin Edge 1040 DO NOT feature an SD/microSD card slot. All of the genuine Garmin maps we sell are supplied on pre-programmed microSD/SD card, therefore the maps we sell are not compatible with these Garmin Edge models. We strongly recommend that you check your Garmin Edge device has a microSD/SD card slot prior to ordering a microSD/SD card from ActiveGPS.
