Garmin GNT 10 NMEA 2000 Transceiver

Product Code: GARGNT

Using the Garmin GNT 10 transceiver you can create a wireless ANT network on your boat, yacht or wherever you happen to be using your Garmin chartplotter. Creating a wireless ANT network enables you to connect a remote control or wireless mouse to the Chartplotter.

Furthermore when paired with the Garmin quatix GPS-enabled marine navigation watch the GNT 10 can relay NMEA 2000 information from your Garmin chartplotter direct to the Garmin quatix 5 such as GPS position, air temperature, water depth and wind over ground. What's more it can even be used to alert the chartplotter when there is a man overboard (MOB).

Garmin GNT 10 NMEA 2000 Transceiver

The Garmin GNT 10 NMEA transceiver can be used to create a wireless ANT network which then enables you to connect a remote control or wireless mouse to a chartplotter. Compatible chartplotters include Garmin GPSMAP 722 Plus, 1022, 1222 Plus, 8410, 8410xsv, 8416xsv and more. For a full list of Garmin marine chartplotters that are compatible GNT 10 transceiver click here or scroll down the page to compatibility. In summary, the wireless ANT network enables:

‣Remote control of media black box
‣NMEA 2000 data monitoring

Pairing a Garmin charplotter and the Garmin quatix 5

The GNT10 allows you to connect the Garmin quatix 5 or Garmin quatix 5 Sapphire to a compatible chartplotter whereby NMEA 2000 information can be wirelessly transmitted to the quatix so you can move about your boat/yacht and receive information direct to the wrist mounted watch without needing to be in front of your chartplotter. Information that can be transmitted includes:

‣GPS position, velocity and heading
‣Navigation data through pairing with MFD
‣Air temperature
‣Water (depth, speed, temperature)
‣Wind (apparent, over ground, VMG to wind)

In addition, when the quatix is paired with a compatible chartplotter an automatic man overboard (MOB) alarm is sounded on the chartplotter. The connection to the wristwatch is monitored and if the connection is lost for more than 10 seconds this triggers a system-wide MOB and the chartplotter is alerted and there is also a waypoint alert made.

Garmin GNT 10 NMEA 2000 Transceiver installation

When mounting you should check compatibility with devices around the boat making sure there are no signal obstructions from metal or dense materials which might inhibit communication in areas you intend to use devices such as the Garmin quatix. In particular, if used with the Garmin quatix you should make sure the Man Overboard (MOB) feature is not triggered when on the boat (ensure connection is not lost).

The GNT 10 should not be installed anywhere that is out of the temperature range between -15 degrees and 70 degrees. Doing so will void the warranty if damage is due to temperature of use. It should also not be installed in areas of extreme conditions.

For more information regarding installation of the GNT 10 transceiver please see the manual, this opens in PDF format.
